Things are starting to settle into sort of new normal. If you work from home, like me, it’s tempting to rock up your home into a home office cum café cum restaurant. I found that having a clean environment before you open your laptop can be the boost you need to be productive through the day. It’s never been more important to keep your home spick and span, and free of germs and nasties. For me, psychologically, taking care of the house, is mentally uplifting. Here’s what I think you should invest in.

Use these 3 tips in order.

1. Teach your helper your cleaning style

Cleaning styles are different for every person, if you want a certain product to be used, tell her. You can do this by showing her how you want things to be cleaned. This will get her familiarised with the areas that need the most attention. Do you use any special techniques? Do you use any special equipment for cleaning? Tell your helper of these things because, often times, misunderstandings with helpers come from unclear instructions.

2. Teach your helper your cooking style

Overseas helpers may or may not be familiar with your country’s local dishes. You may want to teach her what kind of kitchen equipment she should use and how to use it. Once she gets a hang of your dishes, you can give her recipes so she can remember and improvise.

3. Helper’s Working schedule

Make sure your helper has a weekly schedule so she can plan her duties around it. What time do you leave for work? What time do the kids get up in the morning? Does your family go out on weekend? Discuss your plans with the helper, but make sure she knows to also be flexible.

a. Importance of a work schedule

This is essential and important to set routines on the first day to achieve a simple and efficient workflow.

b. Daily Task

Daily tasks are those things that ought to be done right away and the most critical task as scheduled for the day. This includes task relating to cooking, vacuuming floor, laundry, ironing and mopping. For houses that have little kids, securing that books and putting away the toys after playtime is necessary to avoid accident.

c. Weekly Task

Weekly tasks relate to that housework that may not be done every day but must not to disregarded. The floor could be either mopped weekly or frequently if necessary. Clean off the appliances, wash the towel or bedsheet, clean inside of the refrigerator, refill of toilet paper in toilet and refill all supplies and condiments. Rugs should be replaced weekly.

d. Monthly Task

Monthly tasks are to be done per month such as to organize stuff within closet or storeroom.

Even if you already know some of these things, reminders are always good.

Transform your life at home! Stay safe! Stay happy!
