Welcome to the mum's or dad's club! Stay calm and do your best! Not enough time? Fret not! Who else needs a helper that’s safe for our precious baby and make sure our baby smells awesome every day? I know I do!
If only there’s an instruction manual for baby care, things will be really simple. Too bad, nobody had come up with that yet, thus we will have to navigate manually because all babies are different, and we will have to live and learn along the way.
Let us give you some baby tender care and love too.
Here are 5 important skills to teach your helpers that will make your life easier caring for a baby:
1. Basic Experience
· How to hold your baby properly and comfortably
· How to swaddle a baby
· How to burp a baby
· How to feed a baby
· How to bathe a baby
· How to get the baby to sleep
· How to change diapers
2. Hardworking and caring attitude
If you are entrusting your baby to a helper, making sure your baby is in a pair of safe hands. Since the helper will need to take most of the responsibility to take care of the baby, especially night feed in your absence, it is essential to hire someone having a caring and loving charisma, as well as trustworthy and responsible personality, so that your baby feel safe and comfortable with this person.
3. An attentive mind Your helper should have an attentive mind in remembering your baby’s daily pattern for sleeping, feeding, learning, playing and bathing. You can communicate the pattern and daily tasks with your helper to work out a plan for both you and the baby. Also, do not scold or scream at your helper when she made a mistake. Just like, you do not like your boss to scold you, helper feels the same too. Be patience and teach them. Over time, they will learn well and do it correctly.
4. Organisational skills
The helper needs to have a good organisational skill since the responsibility of your helper is not only taking care of the baby but also the household. Therefore, your helper needs to have an adequate understanding of your expectations and your child’s needs.
5. Time Management skills
Taking care of a baby is a tiring job and requires 24 hours supervision. Thus, your helper needs to manage her sleeping time, if she does night feeding, make sure that when baby sleeps, she sleeps as well. And during morning time, when baby is sleeping, your helper can start doing household chores or cooking. With proper guidance and planning, it will make your helper’s job so much smoother.
Practice makes perfect. Hope the above is helpful! Stay safe!
